Alta Vista
Recording Studio was started by Tom Johnson in 1994. He outgrew his
Travis Heights (South Austin, TX) location in 1998, and asked
Fletcher Clark if he would design the new studio. Fletcher
was so intrigued that someone had actually asked his advice
before “they put the walls in the wrong place,” that he
agreed. What ensued was a recording environment that sounds
better than many studios ( the sound of the rooms themselves
are a vital, but often overlooked, factor to making great
music) charging 3 or 4 times more per hour. We believe that
superb sounds are achieved by putting the artist in the right
place in the room, with the right mic in the right spot. When the
vibe is relaxing, supportive, and fun, the artist is most
likely to perform at his or her best, and that is when magic
can happen.
