Application of week # 1, where each student engineers a song consisting of guitar/ another instrument and/ or voice. Emphasis will be on: Recording medium selection ( stand-alone recorder or software based system )
Sample and bit rate selection

Cabling and interfacing
Preamp selection and proper settings
Establishing and maintaining a comfort level for the performer
Setting up a good headphone mix
Monitoring levels
Checking for phase alignment
Recording the performance
Making a rough mix
Week # 3

Putting the mix together
Mixdown recorder levels and bit and sample rate selection
Each student will burn a copy of his/her mix.
Each mix will be critiqued for strong and weak points.
